RECLAMATION & AGGLOMERATION SERVICES
RaaS
VALUE CREATION
We are Reclamation & Agglomeration Services (RaaS). RaaS specialises in metallurgical waste recovery services. Through the introduction of innovative technology solutions, we commercialise waste by partnering with waste generators, consumers and waste disposers. Our experience in mining, smelting and metallurgical waste treatment enables us to assist customers to identify potential solutions for their industry and, if they are not able to recycle the recovered material internally, to find consumers for the product. RaaS recovers fine waste from dams, bag-houses, crushing and screening plants and then transform this material into products suitable for raw material replacement. We believe our solutions need to add value to our customers and should be sustainable. Before starting any product development processes, we typically compile a desktop value proposition for our customers. Through our partners, we design and construct briquetting, crushing, screening and jigging plants. We operate these plants for our customers. This includes slag quenching, mining, crushing and screening operations.
PRODUCTS
RaaS offers a wide range of solutions, covering all the agglomeration technologies.
Agglomeration is the process of particle size enlargement. Most commonly, it refers to the upgrading of material fines into larger particles, such as pellets or granules, but it can also be used to turn sludge-like materials into a dry, granular product. Agglomeration is used to transform fine material into manageable, usable and saleable products.
The main technologies used to agglomerate are:
Briquetting
Pelletising
Extrusion

BRIQUETTING
In the briquetting process particles are compacted into a larger, more usable, size using a dry process in which dusts or powders are formed into shapes. The densification of the product is obtained by mechanical compression through a double roll press. Briquetting is suitable when products contain both fine and coarser materials. Material with a diameter of up to 6mm can be briquetted. Less binders are needed due to high mechanical compaction inherent to the process.

PELLETISING
Pelletising processes are well established. This option is preferred where the process requires smaller product size, and where external heat is applied for curing.

EXTRUSION
In the extrusion process, wet material is forced or pressed through a die to shape a product with a fixed cross-sectional profile. Extrusion may be continuous (producing long materials) or semi-continuous (producing many pieces). The extrusion process can be done with hot or cold materials. Products with high clay and moisture content and with size fractions smaller than 2 mm are typically extruded. Extrusion lends itself to high output volumes. Extrusions are sensitive to feed variables and abrasive products. This process is typically used for high clay-content materials.
FEED MATERIALS
Various Forms of Feed Material
The agglomeration of material is dependent on the ability to process the feed materials. RaaS has experience in processing sludge, tar, fines and even lumpy feed materials.

COMPLETE SOLUTIONS
End-to-End, Industry Specific
We believe in providing customers with solutions with sustainable results underpinned by our quality products as a philosophy for success. To achieve quick turnaround, our approach is to first consider pre-configured solutions, and if not achievable, to then proceed to a solution development process. These solutions are designed for heavy-duty operation under strenuous and tough conditions; they are reliable and require minimal maintenance – the basic design criteria for these machines. We prefer Picko™ agglomeration technologies, which are designed for:
High availability
Low maintenance
Efficient use of binders
Durable and available consumables
Final Product quality and consistency
Value for money

CUSTOM DESIGNED
Specific to your industry and application
Not all industries were created equal, and not all products in the same industry are equal.
RaaS provides the full spectrum of agglomeration machine components. We would use these standardised machines for optimal cost and implementation efficiency. For the majority of customers who have unique requirements, these machines only need to be custom-configured for their particular application.
RaaS develops and designs equipment, processes and binders our customer's specific industry and product needs.

OPERATING MODELS
Depending on customer needs and capital availability, RaaS engages customers in various operating models:
TOLL PROCESSING
This is a typical toll processing arrangement where customer material is transported to the RaaS plant for processing and then delivered to the customer. This is ideal for pilot production and testing.
CLIENT-OWNED, RAAS OPERATED
This is the most common operating model. RaaS would design, construct and operate the plant on behalf of the customer. The customer retains ownership of the plant whilst utilizing RaaS' expertise in operating and maintaining the plant.
CLIENT OWNED & OPERATED, RAAS SERVICED
This model is typically used where the agglomeration process is core business and the customers wants to retain operational control. In such an arrangement RaaS would design and construct the plant for the customer. RaaS would provide maintenance and parts support, and where applicable, supply binders.
EQUIPMENT & PARTS SUPPLY
In this model RaaS would design and construct the plant for the customer. The customer operates and maintains their plant. RaaS would provide parts and equipment, and where applicable, supply binders.
BINDERS SUPPLY
RaaS, through it's partners, supply a wide range of binders applicable to various industries. RaaS provides consulting and development services to assist customers in selecting the optimal binding agents for their particular needs.
